ABOUT ME

Kirsty Chapman is an Artist who creates very special Military paintings using her own fingerprints.

Each poppy fingerprint represents the unique and individual mark each Serviceman, Woman and Veteran makes upon history.

My inspiration came from my Grandmother Anna, who used to work alongside Sir Archibald McIndoe at the Queen Victoria Hospital Burns Unit. She helped to cook all of the food for the surgeons and used to tell me stories of the things the military patients used to get up to on the wards. She told me never to forget them.

My Great Grandfather was a Rifleman in the Royal Ulster Rifles, who sadly died just before the end of the war. My art is for all of those who never came home.

I can tailor each painting to the person I am creating it for, for example by adding your Regiment badge or any other design that has meaning to you.

Path to Peace Project

I am currently working on a very special painting where I am seeking members of the armed forces, both currently serving and ex serving, and Veterans to add a poppy fingerprint or two to the pathway instead of me.

Over time the path will be made up entirely of the prints of many incredible people! Once completed I hope to donate it to a museum or gallery where it can be preserved and visited by future generations. I will be holding events at venues across the country where you can drop in to add your poppy, once covid restrictions are more favourable.

If you would like to add a poppy, please email me!

Leon Parent

I have been researching a Canadian Airman called Leon Parent, Service no J20227.

He crashed at sea near St Malo in France but he was never recovered. As is my tradition of leaving roses for the Fallen, i wanted to place a rose somewhere for Leon. As he died at sea, i collected a pebble from the beach and attached a small plaque engraved with his details. I then attached a silk white rose.

I then booked a boat trip to Newhaven with Sussex Boat Tours (ill add their details below) and travelled out to sea especially to place the stone and rose in the sea.

The coordinates of the stones location will be added below shortly!

Thank you for your service Leon Parent ❤️
